The Emerging Wildlife Conservation Leaders program consists of teams of wildlife professionals working together to conduct two-year wildlife conservation projects. The 2015–2016 class of professionals has a team dedicated to monarch butterfly conservation. For its project, it is creating a Monarch Butterfly Power Map for the central flyway. This map, through data collection using a survey and individual outreach, will provide a detailed list of projects working to promote monarch conservation in the eastern monarch flyway.

The map will include localized monarch projects and groups, which can be a model concept for individuals or landowners looking for a project as an example to model after or a local organization to participate in for monarch conservation (EWCL 2016; Weiskotten 2016).
