The Ecology Department of Ciudad Acuña is a branch of the municipal government of the City of Acuña. Ciudad Acuña is a border city in the state of Coahuila, bordering with the city of Del Rio, TX. The department has several programs that may benefit monarchs, such as its education and outreach program: Environmental Education Program “Monarch Butterfly.” This program is benefitting monarchs by providing education to school children. In October, the Department of Ecology of the City of Acuña holds talks on the monarch butterfly in elementary and middle schools (Flores Diego 2016).
